ABoo Barrel,^[1] also namedGhost Barrel^[2]^[3] (alternatively formatted asGhost barrel),^[4] is a ghostly type ofBlast Barrel inDonkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! andDonkey Kong Land III. Boo Barrels have a distinct behavior of vanishing and reappearing every few seconds, similarly to theropes ofDonkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. Each Boo Barrel faces in a set direction, which it blastsDixie andKiddy to while pointed in the direction. The direction that a Boo Barrel faces is usually randomized, so therefore theKongs often have to time their entry just right to progress. Some Boo Barrels are hazardous obstacles, since they can only blast the Kongs into enemies, and therefore should be passed while invisible.

InDonkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!, the Boo Barrels appear only in theKaos Kore levelCreepy Caverns. They appear a little more often inDonkey Kong Land III, in threelevels:Stalagmite Frights,Haunted Hollows, andGhoulish Grotto.
