Bonefins[1] are metallic-looking fish that appear inSuper Mario Galaxy. They are minions ofKingfin and much like him, appear as skeletal sharks, despite sharks lacking calcium skeletons in reality. InNew Super Mario Bros. Wii onwards,Fish Bone was reintroduced with basic homing abilities that may be based on this enemy.
History[edit]
Super Mario Galaxy[edit]
InSuper Mario Galaxy and itsNintendo Switchport, Bonefins only appear in the eponymousBonefin Galaxy during the boss battle withKingfin. They have glowing red eyes, spinning, propeller-like fins, and attack in a way that is very similar toTorpedo Teds: by homing in on the player and striking them to cause damage, though the radar noise they make is slightly different. They can be destroyed by being led to the surface. After the player has used aGreen Shell or aRed Shell to damage Kingfin, it will summon Bonefins from the planet'shydrothermal vents to attack Mario. When the player has hit Kingfin two more times, he will summon more Bonefins, which will disappear after the battle has finished.
Super Mario Galaxy 2[edit]
InSuper Mario Galaxy 2, a fossilized Bonefin makes a cameo in theYoshi Star Galaxy, though it only serves as a background element.
