Blue Twirlers, also known assmashers,[1] are the third species of normalghostsLuigi encounters inLuigi's Mansion andits remake. They are one of the slowest, largest, heaviest and most powerful non-portrait ghosts found in the mansion. These ghosts try to damage Luigi by using their over-sized fists to make shock waves that spread around; 10HP is lost if they hit Luigi. They have 30 HP each (45 in the3DSHidden Mansion). Though Blue Twirlers do not appear in any later installments of theLuigi's Mansion series,Slammers fromLuigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, andHammers fromLuigi's Mansion 3 behave similarly to them.
Blue Twirlers make a few minor appearances in other games of theSuper Mario franchise. InMario Power Tennis, a Blue Twirler occasionally appears in theLuigi's Mansion Court. InMario Super Sluggers, Blue Twirlers are found in theLuigi's Mansion stadium, where they stun fielders that run into the graves that the Blue Twirlers reside within. As well as the standard blue variety, theGhost K minigame that takes place in this stadium features red, yellow, and green Blue Twirlers.
InSuper Smash Bros. Brawl andSuper Smash Bros. for Wii U, a Blue Twirler is depicted alongside aGold Ghost and aPurple Puncher in atrophy.
