TheBlue Falcon is akart in theMario Kart series modeled afterthe vehicle of the same name used byCaptain Falcon in theF-Zero series. InMario Kart Wii, the Blue Falcon is based on its design fromF-Zero X andF-Zero GX, while inMario Kart 8, it is based on its design from the originalF-Zero. InMario Kart Wii, the coloring ofBaby Mario's Blue Falcon is the same as its namesake and the emblem is located on the hood, two tailfins, and rear. The kart bears less resemblance to the vehicle it is based on inMario Kart Wii, having four wheels and a battery at the bottom. Its depiction inMario Kart 8 is more accurate; it now emits flames, which changes color during a mini-turbo drift, instead of exhaust smoke. InMario Kart 8 andMario Kart 8 Deluxe, the emblem is located on the sides of the kart.

History[edit]

Club Nintendo (German magazine)[edit]

Blue Falcon appears in "Super Mario: Im Rausch der Geschwindigkeit", a two-page comic published in the 4/1992 issue of the GermanClub Nintendo magazine. In the comic, Mario and Yoshi are chased by Blue Falcon for violating the speed limit.

Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars[edit]

InSuper Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars andits remake, a toy model of the Blue Falcon can be seen inCinder Toad's shop alongside miniature versions of theFire Stingray fromF-Zero and theArwing fromStar Fox.

Super Smash Bros. series[edit]

This section is astub. Please considerexpanding it to include any missing information.Specifics: There are more stages where the Blue Falcon appears.

The Blue Falcon as a platform and stage hazard on Big Blue inSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate

The Blue Falcon appears throughout theSuper Smash Bros. series, both alongside and without Captain Falcon.

In everySuper Smash Bros. game except forSuper Smash Bros. Melee, Captain Falcon entersStage by driving onto the screen in the Blue Falcon. Before a battle begins, he jumps out and the Blue Falcon drives away.

The Blue Falcon is a feature on every stage based on theF-Zero series, participating in a race on the track alongside the other F-Zero machines. Most stages have different mechanics for the F-Zero machines. OnList of stages debuting in Super Smash Bros. Melee#Big Blue, the Blue Falcon is one of the F-Zero machines advancing from right to left on the track. Characters and items can stand on it, which is important to do because standing on the track means being pulled backward because the stage's framing moves along with the F-Zero machines. Being pulled into the front of an F-Zero machine, including the Blue Falcon, causes the F-Zero machine to damage and launch the character. OnMute City SNES, the Blue Falcon takes part in a race from the behind the back perspective of the originalF-Zero game. The design of the Blue Falcon, as with everything on the stage, is also based directly on that game. The stage is framed around this behind the back perspective, with the accompanying floating platforms taking the same turns the Blue Falcon does. The players can stand on the Blue Falcon, and they cannot take damage from it in any way.

Starting inSuper Smash Bros. Brawl, the Blue Falcon serves as Captain Falcon'sFinal Smash and maintains this role in each game thereafter. The move has the Blue Falcon rush from the foreground to the background just in front of Captain Falcon. Its trajectory is such that curves around Captain Falcon. If the Blue Falcon hits anyone, a cutscene starts where those opponents are transported to a flat F-Zero track in an unidentifiable location. Captain Falcon then drives the Blue Falcon into the opponents, launching them diagonally upward, and gameplay resumes with the opponents still being launched.

Mario Kart series[edit]

Mario Kart Wii[edit]

The Blue Falcon is an unlockable small vehicle, unlocked by winning theLightning Cup inMirror Mode or by playing 4,200 races. The kart emphasizes top speed and trades off other stats, similar to its medium and large counterparts (theSprinter andJetsetter respectively), though not as polarizing. It is the fastest small vehicle in the game, with its top speed being equivalent to theFlame Runner's. However, the vehicle is rather light and has average drifting and acceleration, but its other stats are rather low. In fact, the Blue Falcon is the only small vehicle to have a Mini-Turbo lower than thirty, unless driven by Baby Daisy, Koopa Troopa, Dry Bones, or the Mii based on their Mini-Turbo bonuses. Its weight is tied with theStandard Kart S. Its acceleration is tied with theSuper Blooper. Its off-road is tied with theHoneycoupe, theWild Wing, and theSneakster. The Blue Falcon's off-road is rather poor; it has the worst off-road performance, handling, and Mini-Turbo out of all small vehicles. The Blue Falcon also has the lowest stat total out of any small vehicle in the game, having 249 stat points. This is one of only four karts in the game with a weight stat of less than thirty, the other three being theBooster Seat, Standard Kart S, andCheep Charger.

The Blue Falcon is one of the six vehicles in Mario Kart Wii to not have a counterpart for its size class, with the other five vehicles being theClassic Dragster,Jet Bubble,Piranha Prowler,Phantom, andZip Zip.

Although it is called the Blue Falcon, most characters driving this vehicle have non-blue color schemes; for example,Baby Luigi has a green Blue Falcon. If Baby Luigi orBaby Daisy ride the Blue Falcon, it will surpass the Sprinter's,Flame Flyer and Sneakster's, andFlame Runner's default speed by one point, three points, and five points respectively. Also, if Toadette rides the Blue Falcon, it will surpass the Piranha Prowler's andBullet Bike's default off-road stat by one point.

Mario Kart 8 /Mario Kart 8 Deluxe[edit]

The Blue Falcon returns inMario Kart 8 as one of the vehicles included inThe Legend of Zelda ×Mario Kart 8 downloadable content pack, as well as one of the three retro vehicle bodies to return in the game along with theB Dasher andPipe Frame. The model is redesigned to look like the original Blue Falcon fromF-Zero for theSNES, complete with flames coming out from the exhaust pipes and an engine noise mimicking that of its original counterpart, and it no longer changes color depending on which character is using it. The tailfins also move when the kart turns. It can also be used by a character of any weight class, as opposed to being exclusive to lightweight characters. Its engine sound is actually a deeper pitched version of theJet Bike's, which is a ducted jet engine. The exhaust flames change color when performing aMini-Turbo. CPUs never use the Blue Falcon, thus making this kart a player-exclusive kart.

In terms of its stats, the Blue Falcon's stat distribution is similar to that of theSoda Jet fromMario Kart 7; it gives a high boost in speed and acceleration as well as an averageMini-Turbo, at the cost of some weight and traction. Also, the Blue Falcon's stats are shared with theStreetle, which is available in theAnimal Crossing ×Mario Kart 8 DLC pack.

It is one of the several vehicles inMario Kart 8 to have a supercharged engine, the others being theMach 8,Sports Coupe,Circuit Special,B Dasher,Badwagon,P-Wing,Comet, andJet Bike.

AStamp of the Blue Falcon became available in Version 4.0 ofMario Kart 8, which was released on April 23, 2015.

InMario Kart 8 Deluxe, it can be unlocked randomly by collectingcoins and now shares stats with theSplat Buggy. It provides a higher boost to traction, anti-gravity handling, and water handling, while reducing water speed, air speed, acceleration, weight, ground handling, and air handling. CPUs will never use this vehicle body, making it among the few player-exclusive vehicle parts in the game.
