Blue Bananas are items inDonkey Kong 64. Here, there are two varieties. One isLanky Kong's equivalent of an ordinarybanana along withbunch variants that are worth five Blue Bananas, though if a differentKong is currently active, the Blue Bananas become transparent and cannot be collected. 100 Blue Bananas appear in each of the game's sevenlevels after Lanky is saved and unlocked from his prison inAngry Aztec inLlama's Temple, and they are required to feedScoff. Shooting aGrape from Lanky'sGrape Shooter at a blueBanana Balloon grants ten Blue Bananas.
The second variety is found only in the multiplayer mode Battle Arena. When a Kong collects the banana, all the other players are frozen[1] in a thick, gelatinous blue goop. This gives the player who used the Blue Banana an advantage until the others break free.
Blue Bananas resemble unripenedBlue Java bananas.
