History[edit]
Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble![edit]
Blue's name is derived from the word "blue". In his case, this refers to two things: Blue constantly "has the blues", as his main characteristic is being gloomy, and his fur color is blue. Uniquely, to reflect Blue's state of mind, the Brothers Bear theme is slowed down in his hut, only speeding up when he is given the present. Afterwards, the Brothers Bear theme plays normally whenever Blue is revisited. In his artwork andDixie Kong's Photo Album picture, Blue is seen holding a harmonica, another reflection of his sadness. In theGame Boy Advanceremake, Blue's sprite was redesigned, and he is seen wearing a red-striped party hat.
Blue is sad because nobody remembered his birthday. It is later revealed thatBlizzard, the Brothers Bear ofK3, did remember Blue's birthday and even got him apresent, but is unable to deliver it because they live too far away from each other. Because of this, Blizzard requestsDixie andKiddy Kong to deliver it on his behalf.
When Dixie and Kiddy go back to Blue's Beach Hut with the present, Blue cheers up and happily unwraps it. The present contains abowling ball, which Blue claims to have no use for, so he allows theKongs to keep it.
Donkey Konga series[edit]
Blue makes a cameo appearance inDonkey Konga 2 andDonkey Konga 3 as one of the characters whose artwork appears in Freestyle Zone while the player plays theDK Bongos.
