The three Blooper Racers

Blooper Racers[1] are a variant ofBlooper appearing only inRicco Harbor inSuper Mario Sunshine.Mario can ride on them. Every episode that Blooper Racers appear in is timed. They come in three colors, with each variety having different abilities. Green Bloopers[2][1][3] are slow and have a tight turning radius, but they travel across land faster than other colors. Yellow Bloopers[1] have average speed and an average turning radius. Lastly, Purple Bloopers[2][1] (or Pink Bloopers)[3] are fast and have a wide turning radius. If the Control Stick is held down in any direction, all Blooper Racer colors move at the same high speed, though they keep their unique turning radii,[4] so the Green Blooper is superior over the other Blooper Racer colors. Mario can dismount a Blooper Racer by running into aduck-ring rider, or by landing on theRocket Nozzle box or the umbrella near the Blooper Racers.[5] Bumping into an obstacle at top speed causes Mario to lose a life.

InEpisode 2 of Ricco Harbor, Mario must complete an obstacle course run by theBig Daddy of Blooper-surfing in 45 seconds or less while riding on the Blooper Racer of his choice. This is repeated inEpisode 10, except the time limit is reduced to 40 seconds. InEpisode 6, Mario must ride on a Blooper Racer to getRed Coins scattered over thewater within two minutes, because otherwise, he loses a life. It is possible yet very difficult to complete the challenge without a Blooper Racer.[6]
