Blood Pines are bouncing, explosivepineapples with laughing faces seen only inDonkey Kong Jungle Beat andits Wii enhanced remake. WhenDonkey Kong approaches one, it latches to the top of his head.
ForTusk bosses, Donkey Kong must pick up a Blood Pine, which is done byclapping when near one, and throw it at the Tusk. Normally they will hit the Tusk's body and explode, dealing minor damage. However, if thrown towards its trunk while the Tusk is inhaling, the Tusk will accidentally suck up the Blood Pine and cause it to blow up in its trunk. When this happens, its heart will be exposed and many Blood Pines will drop; these can themselves be thrown into the heart to deal significant damage. Later on, Blood Pines appear inIguanagon's Realm, where they are used as weapons againstIguanagon; they also appear under the same circumstances in theStar Fruit Kingdom's levelAsteroid Belt.Mini Slump Birds throughoutDonkey Kong Jungle Beat also use Blood Pines as weapons. Like the generic pineapples inDonkey Kong 64, these pineapples explode on contact, but also automatically detonate after a few seconds.
