The small variety ofBlarggs,[1][2] initially referred to asRed Blarggs,[3] are smaller versions ofGargantua Blargg that debuted as enemies inSuper Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. Unlike theBlarggs that appear in theYoshi series, these Blarggs only appear in theYoshi's Island subseries.

History[edit]

Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island /Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3[edit]

Small Blarggs first appear inSuper Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and return inYoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3, the former where they are named Red Blarggs and the latter where they are named Blarggs for the first time. They resemble blobby creatures with large mouths with two visible fangs, and have frowning black eyes without visible sclerae. Red Blarggs behave almost the same way as the originalBlargg inSuper Mario World, dwelling inlava and attempting to leap towards outsiders.Yoshis can defeat them witheggs, but they reappear after a few seconds; however, anAnywhere POW can defeat them permanently.Gargantua Blarggs, which rise out of the lava and try to block the path, serve as a giant relative.

Yoshi's Island DS[edit]

InYoshi's Island DS, small Blarggs reappear with the same appearance and behavior, as well as Gargantua Blarggs. Additionally,Nep-Enuts have a smaller counterpart calledEgg-enuts, which have a similar size to small Blarggs but employ a different tactic; they hide with a fakeYoshi's Egg as a lure.

Yoshi's New Island[edit]

InYoshi's New Island, small Blarggs, along with Gargantua Blarggs, appear once again. These Blarggs are larger than in previous appearances.
