Beanbean Castle is the home ofQueen Bean,Lady Lima,Prince Peasley and possibly other royalty and servants. It is the center of theBeanbean Kingdom. Once the Bros. get to the castle they find twoBeanbean troops who try to play along with the Mario Bros., yet have absolutely no clue what they are talking about. The troops almost refuse to let them in untilLuigi shows themPeasley's Rose, and they are permitted entry. Later, to earn Lady Lima's trust and get to Queen Bean, the Bros. must fix theplumbing under the castle. Once they fix the plumbing, the real Lady Lima is freed.Cackletta, revealing that she was disguised as Lady Lima, andFawful gain access to the Beanstar and also feed Queen Bean aBelly Blech worm.Beanbean Castle Town is the town that is near the castle and has many useful shops. The castle is key in the game, and the home of theBeanstar. The Mario Bros. come here several times in between tasks to talk to Queen Bean and the others to gain information. According to aPea, the rightmost room in the castle is called theChest of Knowledge and has a lot of useful tips for travelers. The room has four books which are left by adventurers who once visited the castle. In the remake, the room instead contains four Peas that give tips to the Bros. when talked to.

From Beanbean Castle Gate, the Mario Bros. should head west into the next screen with the building housing Warp Pipe #3. Luigi should hammer Mario from behind to make him small. As Small Mario, he should jump into the hole leading the next maze-like area. In the hedge maze, Mario should then go all the way east into a corner, then move north and follow the path until he approaches three paths going north. By taking the immediate path, Mario should continue the path until he reaches another passageway into the castle itself. In this dead end room are five hidden blocks: two close to the wall and three to the front. Jumping at the dark green tiles will reveal them.
