Beach Volley Folly is an Extra Roomminigame inMario Party 4. If the player selects theZtar, they get to play this minigame. This requires unlocking every other minigame in the Extra Room first. The minigame also appears as a Special minigame inMario Party: The Top 100 and as a Sports & Puzzles minigame inMario Party Superstars. Though the minigame does not appear inMario Party 5, it is reworked into the new minigameBeach Volleyball.
Overview[edit]
The minigame pits two teams of two against each other in a beach volleyball match. InMario Party 4's Battle Mode, the player(s) must work their way to the top, facing six other teams along the way. If Battle Mode is completed, Free Mode is unlocked, allowing up to four players to play together. A birthday cake is also unlocked and placed in the minigamePresent Room. The minigame ends when one side reaches fivepoints. InThe Top 100 andSuperstars, the player can also choose between 7, 14, or 21 points.
InMario Party 4, the normal cast of characters is playable alongside characters exclusive to this mode. The exclusive playable characters in Beach Volley Folly areToad,Koopa Troopa,Shy Guy,Boo,Bowser, andKoopa Kid. They are unlockable characters and are usable only in Free Mode. In later variations of Beach Volley Folly, only the playable cast of characters in those respectiveMario Party games is usable.
On the top left side of the screen, a wooden deck containing a few tables and a restaurant named Kinopio Cafe are found. Although the deck can be seen during regular gameplay, the building can be seen only during the ending cutscene.
