"Beach Theme",[2] also known as "Underwater Theme",[3] is a musical theme composed byMahito Yokota forSuper Mario 3D Land, where it plays in thelevelsWorld 3-2,World 6-1,World 7-1,Special 1-4,Special 2-2 andSpecial 4-3. This theme isadaptive: when the player is above water, the normal variation with full instrumentation plays, and when the player is submerged in water, a simpler, more subdued variation plays.

InSuper Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, a medley arrangement of "Beach Theme" and "Main Theme" from the same game can play in the3D Land stage. It is titled "Super Mario 3D Land Theme / Beach Theme" in the game'ssound test, and it was arranged by Yuichiro "Jesahm" Noro. Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker[edit]
InCaptain Toad: Treasure Tracker and theNintendo Switch andNintendo 3DSportsof the same name, an arrangement of the "Beach Theme" plays inBriny Bowl Swimming Hole andFloaty Fun Water Park. Like inSuper Mario 3D Land, the theme has two distinct variations for when the player is above or below water. In theNintendo Music app, both the above-ground and underwater versions are played in sequence on the same track, titled "Briny Bowl Swimming Hole".

Mario Kart World features two different arrangements of "Beach Theme": acool jazz arrangement titled "Beach Theme (Jazz Ver.)" and abossa nova arrangement titled "Beach Theme (Bossa Nova Ver.)". The bossa nova version can play inFree Roam during the day, while the jazz version can play on theroute fromPeach Beach toSalty Salty Speedway in theBanana Cup and VS Race routes coming fromKoopa Troopa Beach, Peach Beach, and Salty Salty Speedway.
