Wario,Wario Land 4 instruction booklet

Bat Wario[1][2][3] (previously formatted asBat-Wario),[4] also known asVampire Bat Wario,[5][6] is one ofWario's many transformations in theWario Land series, appearing inWario Land 3 andWario Land 4. When turned into a bat, he shrinks in size and gains pointy fangs, red eyes, bat wings in place of his arms, and an indigo-to-purple skin tone. Bat Wario is among the smallest of Wario's reactions in either game and cannot walk normally, instead awkwardly hopping along the ground. However, he can fly unrestricted rather than make standard jumps, though flight is also slow and functions as repeated short midair jumps. He can also defeat any non-invincible enemy on contact.

History[edit]

Wario Land series[edit]

Wario Land 3[edit]

Wario Land 3 artwork

InWario Land 3, Bat-Wario acts as an extension ofVampire Wario, obtained by touchingKobatto. He can switch between the two forms withB Button. As with Vampire Wario, he is weak to light beams, garlic, and water droplets, which all revert him to normal Wario; he also will change back if he lands in a pool of water, which the vampire form prevents.

Wario Land 4[edit]

Bat Wario

InWario Land 4, Bat Wario appears without the vampire form, but still functions the same otherwise. It appears in four levels:Crescent Moon Village,Arabian Night,Hotel Horror andGolden Passage. The Bat Wario transformation can be triggered by coming in contact with aMinicula. To turn into his normal self, he must go into a patch of light or fall into a pool of water (similar toZombie Wario). Bat Wario's sprite has red overalls instead of purple, but in the artwork and the Japanese commercial, they are purple as usual.

Dr. Mario 64[edit]

Bat-Wario makes a small cameo inDr. Mario 64 as part of Vampire Wario's losing animation. Here, he simply appears as a smaller Vampire Wario with wings on his back.
