Apples in theSuper Mario franchise arefruits with a variety of uses throughout their appearances.

History[edit]

Donkey Kong franchise[edit]

Donkey Kong Jr.[edit]

A Cherry (I think) from Donkey Kong Jr.

Apples inDonkey Kong Jr. are fruit that can be dropped onto enemies to defeat them.

Donkey Kong Jr. Math[edit]

Apples inDonkey Kong Jr. Math are used to display how many points a player has. Once a player gets five points, they win.

Donkey Kong Bananza[edit]

Apples appear inDonkey Kong Bananza, as an occasional drop either from defeating an enemy or smashing terrain. Breaking terrain marked by glowing red spots guarantees an apple will drop. They normally restoreDonkey Kong's health by one heart. However, theApple-a-Day Tie increases how much health is restored by an apple; depending on its upgrade level, it adds an extra 25% at Level 1, 50% at Level 2, or 100% at Level 3.Giant Apples that restore more health also appear.

Super Mario Bros. Print World[edit]

Apples inSuper Mario Bros. Print World are included within the "Ruler & Apple" border.

Yoshi franchise[edit]

Yoshi[edit]

Apples inYoshi resemble thefruits fromSuper Mario World, and they appear after the player clears levels 6 and 7 of the B-Type game, rewarding 300 points.

Yoshi's Story[edit]

Apple
An apple fromYoshi's Story

Apples inYoshi's Story are the favorite fruit ofRed Yoshi andPink Yoshi, along withmelons, and a part of theSuper Happy Tree. If any colored Yoshi eats 30 apples in any level, a picture of an apple will appear behind him and sway back and forth.

Yoshi Topsy-Turvy[edit]

Apples inYoshi Topsy-Turvy are whatBowser transforms theEgglings into when they fly toYoshi's Island afterBowser's Minions attack their homeland. The Spirit Who Loves Cuteness, a friend of the Egglings, is dumbfounded and enlists Yoshi to seek the apples and eat them, which restores the Egglings to their initial forms. The apples in this game are red and green, and, while the two colors of apple can be found doing anything regardless of any kind of coloration code, green ones typically stay in one spot and most red apples glide downward on parachutes.

Yoshi Touch & Go[edit]

Apples inYoshi Touch & Go can each be eaten by Yoshi to give him anegg.

Yoshi's Woolly World[edit]

Red apple slices inYoshi's Woolly World appear inBonus Games.

Yoshi's Crafted World[edit]

Apple
An apple inYoshi's Crafted World

Apples inYoshi's Crafted World are objects that can appear after hitting aTime Cloud, and if Yoshi eats them all within the time limit, aSmiley Flower appears. There are alsocostumes based on red, yellow, and green apples that Yoshi can wear. While the red and yellow ones are gained fromAcorn Forest, the green one is gained fromShadowville.

Mario's Time Machine[edit]

The famous apple used byIsaac Newton inMario's Time Machine was stolen byBowser tohis museum.Mario manages to return the apple to 1687 so that it can properly fall for Newton, allowing him to first speculate on the concept ofgravity.

Super Paper Mario[edit]

Icon of an item from Super Paper Mario

Apples inSuper Paper Mario now appear asRed Apples. More variations of them are introduced, including the tabooBlack Apple (which wakes upPrincess Peach); the luscious but cursedGolden Apple; the mustache-inducingYellow Apple; the fruit-transformingPink Apple; and the shrinkingBlue Apple. All apples in this game simply restore five HP, except for the Black Apple, which restores only one when used on a playable character; the above ailments are induced only when they are given to a non-playable character. The more-usefulPrimordial Fruit introduced earlier inSuper Paper Mario also slightly resembles that game's apples, although the two items' exact relations are unknown.

WarioWare: Touched![edit]

An apple inWarioWare: Touched! is used byDr. Crygor in the prologue of his stage to demonstrate his recentTri-phonic Undulating Nanobot Automaton. The core converts into an apple after the demonstration. However, when Dr. Crygor enters the compartment of the TUNA, it closes on him along with the apple. This results in Dr. Crygor being merged with the apple, upgrading him.

Mario Sports Mix[edit]

Apples inMario Sports Mix are objects that can be fed toPetey Piranha in the party gameFeed Petey, and are worth 30 points each.

Nintendo Land[edit]

Mario Party series[edit]

Mario Party 10[edit]

Apples inMario Party 10 are found in the minigameFruit Cahoots. They can be seen either alone or in groups of 3. Each apple gives the player 1 point.

Super Mario Party Jamboree[edit]

Apples inSuper Mario Party Jamboree are found in the minigameJuiceworks, in which players have to bring as many apples as possible to deliver as many boxes as they can and score a high rank.

In Party Planner Trek, the player is asked to deliver an apple to theShy Guy near the Honey. Once the player completes that task, they will receive a Mini Star.Toadette will then join the players team if she is not being used during the mode.

Hello, Yoshi![edit]

A promotional image for Hello, Yoshi!

Apples inHello, Yoshi! can fall from above the screen if the player touches Yoshi's nose repeatedly to make him sneeze. They can be eaten by Yoshi if the player drags one to his mouth or if his tongue touches one. While playing peekaboo, aBoo can steal an apple from Yoshi if it gets too close.
