"A Fearsome Foe" is a theme composed forPaper Mario: Color Splash. It is composed on oboe, djembe, marimba, bass, and synth. It is used as a battle theme for various mid-bosses, includingBig Spiny,Petea Piranha, theBlack Shy Guy inViolet Passage,Steak,Big Lava Bubble,Kamek, and the fake-out battle withPiper. This track is on the record forKiwano Temple in thePrisma Museum.
Like most other battle themes, the track has an off-key variant that plays when Mario is low onHP.
In theEB Games Expo, this track is used for a battle against aSledge Bro.

- In the game's data, Kamek's battles are initialized with a music track called "BOSS_Kamek," while mid-bosses use "BOSS_MIDDLE." Both music IDs simply play "A Fearsome Foe," but Kamek's being different implies he was planned to have his own boss music.
