 - New details were revealed about theNintendo Switch 2 in theNintendo Direct: Nintendo Switch 2 presentation broadcast on April 2, 2025, including a voice and video chat feature called GameChat, enhanced versions ofNintendo Switch games includingSuper Mario Party Jamboree, the addition ofNintendo GameCube games (includingSuper Mario Sunshine,Super Mario Strikers, andLuigi's Mansion) to theNintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service, and the system's release date of June 5, 2025. TheMario Kart game for the system was revealed in full asMario Kart World (pictured) and is set to be released at the system's launch. A new 3DDonkey Kong game titledDonkey Kong Bananza was also revealed, set to be released on July 17, 2025.
- In theNintendo Direct presentation broadcast on March 27, 2025, a type of software management was revealed for theNintendo Switch calledvirtual game cards, which enables users to load digital games from one Nintendo Switch to another in a similar manner to inserting physical game cartridges, and is planned to launch in late April 2025 via a system update, withNintendo Switch 2 support confirmed for the future.
