We expected Nintendo to show a newPokemon game during the Nintendo Direct and so it did. The big N announcedPokemon Pokopia, a new life and farm simulator in which we will control a Ditto capable of becoming human.
Available forNintendo Switch 2 in 2026, not too many details were revealed about it, although we were able to see the first few minutes of gameplay.
This is Pokemon Pokopia, the new Pocket Monster farm simulator
As we have already mentioned, it will be a farm-type game in the purest style ofStardew Valley, Animal Crossing or Harvest Moon, but with our Pokemon friends as the main companions.
Without a doubt, one of its greatest singularities is that each Pokemon will fulfill some kind of function. For example, we have seen a Squirtle using its water gun to water or a Hitmonchan punching the air so that we can modify the terrain.
Interestingly, as we have seen in the trailer,Ditto can mimic Pokemon abilities like this, as it is the shapeshifting Pokemon itself who ends up terraforming the stage.
Likewise, the distribution of the map and its aesthetics reminded us of another game that many of you will know: Minecraft. Indeed,Pokemon Pokopia also has a bit of Mojang's game in it.
If you mix Pokemon with Stardew Valley and Minecraft, the result is as beautiful as this
The world seems to be divided into blocks and, during the video,we can see elements such as houses for the Pokemon, water mills and other similar elements.
And while it's true that thesedon't follow the cubic look of Microsoft's game, they do convey a slightly similar feel. This makes us think that Pokemon Pokopia could go beyond the typical farm simulator to give us more control of the world.
In other words,it could offer us a much more complete construction system than that of Stardew Valley or Animal Crossing. It would be more like Dragon Quest Builders, although it is still too early to say, since we do not know too much about it.
