Ronald Araujo is proving to be one of the few positives fromBarcelona's 2020/21 season. The 21-year-old defender was thrust into the first team afterGerard Pique's injury and has coped extremely well.

On Saturday,he scored his first senior goal for theBlaugrana; a brilliant scissor kick that gave the hosts the lead overValencia at the Camp Nou.

After the goal, the Uruguayan lifted up his shirt to reveal the message 'The glory goes to God' on another shirt underneath.

There was no glory forBarcelona, though, as Maxi Gomez's equaliser denied them all three points in a 2-2 draw.

Araujo has seen his role withinRonald Koeman's squad grow significantly in recent months. AfterBarcelona failed in their pursuit of Eric Garcia in the summer, the centre-back was given the No.4 shirt.

In the absence of the injuredPique,Araujo has grown into his responsibilities and, alongside equally inexperiencedOscar Mingueza on Saturday, he proved he can lead when needed.

Although his defensive acumen is already a major asset to thisBarcelona side,Araujo is demonstrating his ability in both boxes these days.
