Miedema wins WSL Goal of the Month

Picking up play just outside the Villa area, the Dutch international’s smart turn created the space for her to try her luck from distance.
And Miedema made no mistake with the opportunity, curling a sumptuous effort from distance into the top corner.
It was a goal of immense quality, and demonstrated the incredible form that our number six has been showing since returning from injury in the new year.
Miedema had already grabbed City’s first goal of the game at Villa Park when pouncing on a defensive error before her incredible strike.
Further goals from Mary Fowler and Jess Park set the sealon a deserved 4-2 win.
Fowler’s strike - another vicious effort from distance - was also shortlisted for this month’s GOTM award, but the pick of the bunch for City was Miedema’s second.
And the forward’s effort has won the fan vote, beating Liverpool’s Olivia Smith, Everton’s Veatriki Sarri, Chelsea pair Catarina Macario and Aggie Beaver-Jones and Spurs’ Olivia Holdt to the prize.
