«Broadcom is still trying to strongarm VMware customers into accepting huge price increases and onerous licensing terms, says the European Cloud Competition Observatory (ECCO) in its latest report.If anything, ECCO’s third report, a follow-on from an equally scathing report in May, finds that the situation with VMware has deteriorated during 2025, with the US vendor seemingly still intent on imposing draconian changes that amount, in ECCO’s view, to an abuse of market power.»

This article touches an aspect which is often forgotten in the souvereignty discussion - whoever is doing business in the USA falls under the regulation of the CLOUD act.They only technical measure which is available is effective encryption - keep the keys under your full control, apply them directly under your control. „But server location does not create sovereignty. Under the U.S. CLOUD Act, American courts can compel Canadian firms with operations in the United States to provide access to data they control – and one would be hard-pressed to find a Canadian firm that does not, or is not planning to, do business in the United States.“https://lnkd.in/ei-6cu48
