The Page Farm and Home Museum has released a new virtual tour developed in collaboration with assistant professor Matthew Magnani and his students.In consultation with museum Director Patricia Henner, students in Magnani’s Museum Anthropology course helped create a high-quality digital copy of the main 1833 Maine Experiment Station barn using an integrated camera and LiDAR system. The 3D scan provides faithful documentation of the university’s oldest structure, which is also the last original agricultural building on campus. Great news announced at the University of Massachusetts Lowell by the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education yesterday -- a $2 million grant from Axim Collaborative to expand work-based learning programs and credentials at state colleges and universities. The goal is to scale innovations, such as the co-op program currently offered at UMass Lowell, where students work full-time for up to six months at an industry partner in order to put their classroom learning into practice (and earn quite a few bucks!), as explained by Chris Gabrieli, Chair of the state's Board of Higher Education, and Stephanie Khurana, CEO of Axim Collaborative. This expansion will lead to more opportunities for UMass Lowell students, who Chancellor Julie Chen has guaranteed an opportunity for at least one career-connected experience, for pay or credit, before graduation.
