My time is U.S. ambassador to the OECD is coming to a close. It's been an honor for me to serve as ambassador and to lead a terrific team working with like minded partners on issues that are much bigger than any one nation. Perhaps every generation of ambassador in the last 60 years has said words like the OECD has never been more important than it is now. But I truly believe that today, given the existential global challenges we face on issues as varied as climate, health and attacks on our democratic values, solutions can only be found when like minded countries work together. The OECD as both a forum to bring us together and as a home to some amazing talent and expertise, is well positioned to solve problems and to create opportunities. I'm particularly proud of the OECD's ability to deliver real value for all of our citizens. During my time as ambassador, we worked closely with governors, county executives and mayors back home to make sure that the outstanding work, products and expertise of the OECD are brought to life in ways that fix real problems. We did so by successfully fostering more engagement in exchanges between local officials and the OECD on important issues such as education, health and improving opportunities for our workforce. During my time here, the mission saw more than 1000 U.S. delegates advocate for American interests and various committees and events. These experts are the strength of our work at the OECD and ensure that what we do abroad reinforces our efforts to make home life better and safer for Americans. I met with many of what these delegates to understand how we can best support them in tackling pressing challenges like improving economic performance, combating climate change, governing new technologies and supporting stronger, more sustainable infrastructure. I appreciate the work that they do to deliver for the American people. As Ambassador, I've also been very proud to see some of our initiatives evolve and expand. The Global Forum on Technology is one of them. Launched last year, the forum will help develop a broad multilateral approach to critical and emerging technologies that will promote the benefits of responsible technology use while at the same time mitigating the risk of abuse by creating rules of the road. It's also been rewarding to see one of our flagship initiatives, the Blue Dot Network, expand as we work with partners to develop the network and ensure that we can deliver on our promise to bring more private sector investment into the kinds of infrastructure that the world needs to meet our critical development and energy transition goals. It's been heartening to see new countries join BDN demonstrating the growing commitment to sustainable infrastructure development from democracies worldwide. And it's been terrific working with our colleagues at the International Energy Agency, our peers here who worked and support the US Agency for International Development and the fantastic work that they do as well. I will miss working with the OECD with like minded partners from around the world and with my team at the US Mission but I know that the interests of the American people are in good hands as they continue their work to tackle shared challenges affecting the world of today and tomorrow.

Well saidJack Markell and well done! That's a great recap of the terrific accomplishments you've led. I know your service continues as Ambassador to Italy, keeping up your tremendous work... it doesn't seem like so long ago since your midnight freezing weather gubernatorial inauguration ceremony! (Be sure to take the bicycle along for a ride - I don't think even Mt Cuba's climb prepares you for the legendary mountains there)
