The cognitive shortcut paradox presents a fundamental challenge for how we teach and learn#programming in the#AI era. The traditional path of building skills through struggle and iteration hasn’t become obsolete; it’s become more critical than ever, because those same skills are what allow#developers to use AI tools effectively. Day 3 (of ?). I still would rather be working than#furloughed, but another resource to share for people wanting to#upskill during this unplanned time off. I use both#Python and#Rstats (and, even wrote a book about them withEric Eager) on a regular basis. Pandas data frames in Python are the most common equivalent of R's data frames (or Tibbles for tidyverse UseRs).For people wanting to learn more about#datascience with Python,Wes McKinney, the creator of the Pandas library, has an open source book, that is a great introduction to Data Science and Python. The book may be found for free athttps://lnkd.in/g-gbE5m2 or purchased fromO'Reilly. I would even say the book is the Python equivalent of "R for Data Science."

A huge thank you toMelissa Potter and theO'Reilly team for sending copies of my book, Cloud Application Architecture Patterns I wrote withKyle Brown andBobby Woolf, to share at the recentAgile Brazil and Regional Scrum Gathering in Rio de Janeiro! It was a fantastic event where I had the pleasure of co-presenting with my good friend,Marden Neubert, on "Domain Modeling meets GenAI: Turbo-Charging Agile from Domain to Deployment."This talk directly leveraged the core Domain Modeling patterns found in Chapter 5 of our book. It was great to connect with the community and discuss how these foundational patterns can be combined with modern GenAI capabilities to streamline the agile process.https://lnkd.in/g5sSYwdrThe energy and discussion at the conference was phenomenal! Thanks again to the entire O'Reilly staff, especially Melissa andMegan Laddusaw, for their incredible work in helping us bring this book to life!#AgileBrazil#DomainModeling#GenAI#CloudArchitecture#OREILLY#RioDeJaneiro#CloudComputing#AgileSoftwareDevelopment#DomainDrivenDesign#OReilly#TechTalk

After spending a day at SQL Saturday Orlando learning and sharing my knowledge I spent the end of the night doing laundry at the resort. What better way to spend the time readingO'Reilly DuckDB Up & Running book. I think Donald agrees this is something I need to learn more about especially leveraging in Microsoft Fabric Notebooks. He is glad they did not call it MouseDB.#SQLSaturday#LifeLongLearner#DuckDB
How do you know the#code being developed is secure? First, remember—AI isn’t monolithic. AsSam Newman notes, “You can use different models for different parts of the testing process.” And of course, “there’s a whole load of things” that can help you verify the security of your code. A great feature of theO'Reilly platform that I recently learned, thanks toAaron Johnson andRoselio Recio's walkthrough. While you read books, you can have a sandbox VS Code directly in the browser, allowing you to run the code as you learn.
