✨ Thank you to everyone who attended the#FrictionlessSummit today and embarked on our ambitious effort to reimagine how technology is built and used - the initiative we call#TheTechWeWant. Very present and engaged in the discussion, the#FrictionlessData community gave demonstrations of how Frictionless specifications and software are being used today, after more than 10 years of the project being active. Later, we moved on to a conversation about the future of Frictionless from a#TheTechWeWant perspective – in short, we are pushing open tech communities to discuss new practical ways to build software that is useful, simple, long-lasting and focused on solving people's real problems. The video documentation will be available soon. For now, a short summary of the amazing content:📊Pierre Camilleri explained how he uses the Validata platform (https://validata.fr) byOpenDataFrance to validate data from the French open data portaldata.gouv.fr.✅Romina Colman demonstrated how the#OpenDataEditor works,Open Knowledge Foundation 's desktop application to detect errors in tables. It's optimised for non-technical users! 🦌Peter Desmet showed a concrete application of the#DataPackage in the Camtrap DP project (https://lnkd.in/dvvUUjY2) to observe animals in wildlife in a non-intrusive way.🌊Nicholas Kellett presented the Climate Change Impact Platform byDeploy Solutions , where you can upload a list of physical infrastructure and check it for environmental hazards.📃Phil Schumm highlighted the NIH/University of Chicago's data management and sharing policy for biomedical research, aligned with the Frictionless standards.🪸Adam Shepherd and Amber York showed how the submission process works for the oceanography research community aroundBiological and Chemical Oceanography Data Management Office and using#DataPackage.🧊Ethan Welty showed how they use#FrictionlessData to describe and test glacier mass loss data with metadata. And the importance of being metadata-driven!💥 Then OKFN's Tech Lead,Patricio Del Boca, asked some provocative questions as he presented#TheTechWeWant initiative to spark the community conversation.Do you ask yourself these questions when you're developing technology?• Will it be running in 15 years?• How much work will you need to put in two years to update your project?• How many of your dependencies will be deprecated in five years?• Are you building Products or Infrastructure?• Are you measuring the value of what you are building to ensure funds?#OpenData#OpenCommunity#OpenSource#OpenMovement

🇫🇷 Observatoire des armements / CDRPC is one of the organisations piloting the#OpenDataEditor. 💬 Sayat Topuzogullari, Coordinator: “Our monitoring network aims to involve as many people as possible in#defense and#security issues, a taboo subject in France. For this reason, it’s essential to offer an easy tool for finding errors in databases and improving#dataquality.”Our goal at theOpen Knowledge Foundation this year is to enhance#digitalliteracy through no-code tools. Using ODE helps to fill the literacy gap for people and teams in non-technological sectors, as it has the potential to be a useful tool for working with different types of datasets, such as climate, gender, infrastructure, health, genomic, GLAM, public sector data and government accountability, among others.👉🏾 More:https://lnkd.in/d_P5FyyU#opendata#TheTechWeWant#Impact

🥳 And that's a wrap for our mini#OpenData Open House! Thanks for joining. Even though we weren't able to have our usual regional discussions this year, we're sure there are more opportunities for learning and exchange in the coming months.✨ 👏 ThanksLucas Pretti for joining us at the very last minute and speaking on behalf ofOpen Knowledge Foundation and partners—about the initiatives that took place for#OpenDataDay this year. We're thrilled to see that a lot of the events took place in LatAm, Asia and Africa! 😍 ✨ 👏 Gracias—Luisa Fernanda Medina from Government of Colombia who shared about their work in open data and Data Infrastructure National Plan. Wonderful to see that#data training and education is part of their strategy. 🌟Ministerio de Tecnologías de la Información y las Comunicaciones✨ 👏 And last but not least, many thanks also toMikhail Parfentev who presented the very comprehensive open data initiatives they've rolled out in#Azerbaijan, which even includes an#AI strategy! 🫣 🤖 🥰 How very encouraging to sign-off from our first Implementation Working Group meeting of the year, inspired to collaborate and help more governments to open up their data, purposefully. We'll share the videos once they're ready! 💙#OnwardswithOpenness#OpenGovNatalia CarfiRenato Berrino MalaccortoMercedes de los Santos
