About us
A lot of companies say they’re “mission-driven.” Our unique corporate structure guarantees that every decision we make upholds our mission: to ensure the internet remains open and accessible. Beholden to neither shareholders nor investors, Mozilla Corporation is wholly owned by the not-for-profit Mozilla Foundation.Along with our communities of 20,000+ contributors and collaborators, Mozilla Corporation’s staff designs, builds, and distributes software that allows people to enjoy the internet on their own terms. Our flagship product — the Firefox browser — has expanded into a family of products that protects users and alerts them of risks, safeguards passwords and provides a secure VPN (with more to come).By maintaining a safe, open internet we're helping humanity, while also helping the individual humans employed here to reach their personal and professional goals. With a relatively small team serving hundreds of millions of people, a culture of exploration, and a commitment to mentorship, opportunities abound to learn and grow at Mozilla.

Fixing search competition shouldn’t come at the expense of browser competition. But that’s exactly what the DOJ’s latest proposal risks doing.By banning search payments with independent browsers, the DOJ could unintentionally weaken the very challengers pushing for innovation, privacy, and choice. Tech giants like Apple and Microsoft, which don’t depend on these deals, won’t feel the impact—only the independent players will. And if Mozilla can’t sustain Gecko—one of the last remaining independent browser engines—we risk a future where the web is built on a single dominant technology. That’s bad for competition, bad for innovation, and bad for users. We need solutions that fix search competition without crushing browser competition.More on why this matters:https://lnkd.in/gGHwV566
A threat to browser competition is a threat to the open web.The latest proposal in the U.S. v. Google case misses the bigger picture—what is meant to promote search competition, somehow threatens to crush browser competition.By banning search companies from paying independent browsers, these misguided plans could: ❌ Weaken browser competition by making it harder for smaller players to compete. ❌ Hurt privacy-first alternatives that challenge Big Tech’s dominance. ❌ Put the future of Mozilla’s Gecko engine at risk, the only cross-platform counterweight to Google's Chromium engine. This isn’t just about Firefox—it’s about the future of an open, independent web where people have real choices. We urge regulators to support policies that foster search AND browser competition, not stifle it.📢 Read more about why this matters:https://lnkd.in/g_rkn46b

A year of the EU Digital Markets Act!Much done, and much still to do, but here are some reflections from the teams atMozilla:♾️ First off, browsers mattered yesterday, they matter today and and they will matter tomorrow. So meaningful choice in what browser you use is key.💻 On that, give people real choice and they'll choose a good product that's right for them (and are more likely to stick with it).🤾♀️ We have much work to do to level the playing field across tech, but innovation in approaches to competition regulation and enforcement can address imbalances (and other regions and countries are seeing this): e.g. since the launch of the first DMA browser choice screens on iOS in March last year, we've seen Firefox daily active users in Germany alone increase by 99%, and in France, daily active users on iOS grew by 111%.#DMA#regulationforinnovation
