🔍 Did you know? SMEs represent up to 99% of companies in some EFTA States. Our modernised free trade agreements often include a dedicated SME chapter, helping small and medium-sized businesses access global markets and benefit from digital opportunities. Ensuring that SMEs are included in global trade is one of the many ways in which EFTA is adapting to modern times, driving innovation and growth across our Member States and beyond. How is EFTA shaping trade for today and tomorrow? EFTA’s modernised free trade agreements reflect the realities of today’s shifting global economy. 🌍By updating our FTAs and adding new chapters – from SMEs to sustainable and digital trade – we can ensure that trade remains open, inclusive and resilient. Modernisation isn’t just about keeping pace with change – it’s about adapting to and shaping a trading system that is more predictable, values-driven and ready for the future. 💡 EFTA has modernised three of its FTAs since 2018, including two in the last two years. #EFTA65

Extending the European Green Bonds Regulation across the EEA 🌱 The EEA Joint Committee has incorporated the European Green Bonds Regulation into the EEA Agreement, bringing Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway into the framework. The Regulation establishes a voluntary EEA-wide standard designed to strengthen transparency and credibility in sustainable finance. It creates new opportunities for issuers and investors while addressing greenwashing and supporting the transition to a low-carbon economy.
