Have your say and help shape our future energy system. Australians have embraced customer energy resources (CER) with the highest proportion of households with rooftop solar in the world ☀️The uptake of household batteries and electric vehicles is forecast to follow a similar growth trajectory. The National Consumer Energy Resources (CER) Roadmap envisions a future where CER plays a crucial role in our secure, affordable, and sustainable electricity systems.Consultations have now opened on two parts of the CER Roadmap. You are welcome to have your say on:⚡ redefining roles for market and power systems operations 👉https://brnw.ch/21wTZS6🖥️ data sharing arrangements 👉https://brnw.ch/21wTZS7These areas will help to achieve greater coordination and improved integration of CER in our energy system. The feedback received by the CER Taskforce will help to shape recommendations made to Australian Energy Minsters later this year. Both consultations close at 11:59pm (AEST) on Wednesday 20 August 2025.
🏘️Communities across Australia are set to benefit from 23 new water infrastructure projects – with some already underway! Our#NationalWaterGrid Water Infrastructure for Sustainable and Efficient Regions (WISER) initiative is providing $85.9 million to help deliver the projects. We’ve partnered with state governments and local councils across Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia, South Australia and Tasmania to get these projects up and running as quick as possible.🌿What’s even better is that they must be delivered in an#environmentallysustainable way.♻️ Many of them also support Australia’s#circulareconomy by using recycled materials and renewable energy as well as reduced construction footprints.🖥️Learn more about the WISER initiative and the various water infrastructure projects we’re helping to fund:https://brnw.ch/21wTZQZ📹 showcasing some WISER project sites and other small scale water infrastructure projects and locations from each state and territory.

We want your feedback on how Aggregated Resources could be included in the Capacity Investment Scheme.Aggregated Resources (ARs) are smaller energy projects and technologies that, when combined, can act as one participant in the energy market 🏡 🔋They refer to projects that may not currently be scheduled through the National Electricity Market dispatch process but could potentially respond to market price signals. This can include:⚡ Aggregation of small resources less than 30MW, such as: ▪️ distribution network-connected batteries and community batteries ▪️ small-scale solar and wind farms⚡ Aggregated demand response (e.g. data centres, irrigation or pumping loads); and⚡ Consumer energy resources like household batteries and rooftop PV operating within Virtual Power Plants (VPPs).The consultation paper invites feedback on potential scheme parameters and opportunities for the inclusion of ARs in the CIS.📝 Share your insights through the department’s consultation platform. Submissions close 5:00pm AEST, 5 August.👉 Have your say 🔗https://brnw.ch/21wTY91
🐾 Looking out for the Northern Brushtail Possum ✨ The#NaturalHeritageTrust is proudly supporting efforts to protect the Northern Brushtail Possum – one of 110 priority threatened species in the Threatened Species Action Plan. We’re working with Territory Natural Resource Management (TNRM) and Indigenous ranger groups, including the Malak Malak Rangers, to:📍 Improve understanding of where possums live and how to care for their habitat🌱 Support habitat management through weed control and fire management📸 Monitor possum activity using camera traps and habitat surveysThanks to the Malak Malak rangers and Traditional Owners for their dedication and hard work on this project.🔗 Learn more about The Natural Heritage Trusthttps://brnw.ch/21wTY5X#NaturePositive#ThreatenedSpecies#NAIDOCWeek#CareForCountry📷Ranger Photos: Jeannine Lisle📷Camera Trap Images: TNRM
The Capacity Investment Scheme (CIS) is introducing changes to future tender processes. Two tender stages will now be combined into a single bidding stage. 📝This means proponents no longer need to submit a separate Stage A bid and a Stage B bid to participate in the scheme!Combining the previous Stage A – Project Bid and Stage B – Financial Bid means eligibility criteria can be streamlined and merit criteria can be consolidated which will improve the efficiency of tenders. Key merit criteria will continue to be: ⚡financial value, system reliability and benefits⚡project deliverability and timeline⚡organisational, resource and financial capability⚡First Nations participation and benefit sharing ⚡social outcomes and community benefit sharing.Delivering tenders faster will ensure proponents have certainty of tender outcomes sooner. We’re diving in a week early to celebrate#WorldOrcaDay! 🌊 Orcas are sea-riously smart and social (kind of like us here at#MarineMonday 😉).💕They live in tight-knit pods, all related through their mums.🦑They’re formidable hunters, feeding on fish, squid and marine mammals.🍽️Each pod has its own favourite snacks – based on the clever hunting tricks they’ve learned and shared. Some exclusively eat fish, while others have more varied tastes. When it comes to catching dinner, orcas are masters of strategy and teamwork:🐺They coordinate their attacks on prey like wolves of the sea.🐋Sometimes, multiple pods join forces to take down big animals, such as beaked whales or even young blue whales.#Orcas roam seas worldwide, including all around Australia (although only rarely sighted in Northern Territory waters).Bremer Canyon in Western Australia is a global hot spot for orcas. Pods gather there in summer to feast on giant squid and other marine animals.Despite being called ‘killer whales’, orcas are actually the largest members of the dolphin family. In Australia, orcas and other#cetaceans (whales, dolphins and porpoises) are protected within the Australian Whale Sanctuary.🔗Find out morehttps://brnw.ch/21wTWrZ📷Orca swimming off Western Australia.#MarineMonday#LoveOurOcean

Today is World Zoonoses Day – a reminder of how diseases can spread between animals, with serious impacts on wildlife and ecosystems. One example is H5 avian influenza (bird flu), a serious and highly contagious strain that may reach Australia soon. Overseas, it has infected more than 500 species of birds and more than 80 mammals, such as seals. Australia’s unique biodiversity, that makes our country so special, is at risk. Preparing for this strain of bird flu isn’t something we can do alone – together, we can prepare our native wildlife. Here’s some simple ways you can help 👇🔗Learn more about H5 bird fluhttps://brnw.ch/21wTVuD#WorldZoonosesDay
