Global open source, open development software in R for genomics
About us
**Upcoming Conferences**:- EuroBioC2026 (Jun 3-5, Turku)- BioC 2026 (Aug 10-12, Seattle)The Bioconductor project develops and supports free open-source software for the rigorous and reproducible analysis of biological data, focusing on R and statistical methods. We foster a diverse, collaborative, and welcoming community of developers and data scientists.Founded in 2001, Bioconductor is an open-source software project widely used in bioinformatics and biomedical research. It hosts over 2,000 R packages contributed by over 1,000 developers, with over 40 million downloads per year. Bioconductor has been cited in more than 60,000 scientific publications.Bioconductor operates with two releases each year and has an active user community. It is also available as Docker images. The project is overseen by a Core team based primarily in Boston, with members from US and international institutions. Our Community and Technical Advisory Boards, along with various Committees and Working Groups, are largely composed of dedicated volunteers who support our mission and ensure long-term viability.#Bioinformatics #OpenSource #BioconductorCommunity #RStats #GBCC2025 #EuroBioC2025

If you’re interested in hosting a workshop, please submit your interest here:https://lnkd.in/gaAEWMpK🗓 Deadline: 30 January 2026📌 Decisions announced: February 2026Selections will be based on relevance and alignment with the workshop and conference themes.🔗 Information on abstract submissions for short talks, posters, and workshops during the conference is available here:https://lnkd.in/gDeQuaHw#EuroBioC2026#Bioconductor
Bioconductor participated in the Outreachy Internship Program for the June–August 2025 cohort. As part of this program, internsVictoria Poromon Poromon andAnne-Marie Sharp worked on a range of projects within Bioconductor and now share their experiences contributing to both BugSigDB and Bioconductor more broadly. Both Victoria and Anne-Marie began their journeys as newcomers to open source. Through work ranging from microbiome study curation and R development to peer reviews, blogging, collaboration, and mentorship, they grew into confident contributors and are now co-mentors. Their stories serve as a powerful reminder that open source is not just about code, but also about the people behind it. 📖 Read their full journeys here:https://lnkd.in/dehx_DEQ#Bioconductor#Outreachy#Internship#OpenSource

🚀 Join this hands-on online course on Spatial Omics in R/Bioconductor in May (18-20), designed for biologists and researchers eager to explore#SpatialOmics without needing prior deep experience. Gain a clear understanding of spatial technologies—imaging vs sequencing—and learn to analyse complex datasets using tidy data principles in R/Bioconductor.In this 3-day course you’ll learn:- Key spatial omics concepts and experimental design- Analytical frameworks with SpatialExperiment, tidySpatialExperiment, MoleculeExperiment, and Seurat- Advanced analyses: spatial differential expression, cell-neighbour interactions, pixel deconvolution, and multi-modality data integrationLed by Dr.Stefano Mangiola from the South Australian immunoGENomics Cancer Institute, this course blends theory with practical skills over three mornings (Berlin time).https://lnkd.in/g5QhzmjN#SpatialOmics#Bioconductor#Rstats#Bioinformatics#DataScience#tidyOmics

I’m so excited to share that I have been selected for the December 2025- March 2026Outreachy Internship round.I’ll be joining theBioconductor community as an intern on the project “Microbiome study curation”, working with amazing mentorsAnne-Marie Sharp,Chioma Onyido, and Chloe Mirzayi. I’m also grateful to the Bioconductor coordinators, Andres Wokaty andMaria Doyle. This opportunity means a lot to me. It’s a chance to improve my skills in microbiome research, data curation, and open-source scientific collaboration. I’m especially excited to contribute to a project that supports reproducible, high-quality biological data. This is something I genuinely care about.Thank you to everyone who supported me through the application process. My sincere appreciation also goes toSvetlana Ugarcina Perovic for her patience during the contribution phase,Chioma Onyido for her guidance,Anne-Marie Sharp,Victoria Poromon, andKate Rasheed. This is indeed an opportunity to learn, grow, and give back to the open-science community!Congratulations to my fellow Intern,Tosin Adeshile 🎉 Looking forward to working with you in the coming months.#Outreachy#Bioconductor#OpenScience#Microbiome#DataCuration#WomenInTech#Bioinformatics
