'Dans Les Dunes', 1895.

Eugène Cottin was a late-19th century French painter, illustrator, engraver and cartoonist. Born in Strasbourg, he was educated at the School of Fine Arts in Paris, where his teachers were Léon Bonnat and Léon-Victor Dupré. He specialized in painting military and animal-related subjects. His humorous drawings and caricatures appeared in such publications as Le Chat Noir, the feminist paper La Fronde, Le Sifflet, Le Petit Français Illustré, L'Intransigeant, Gil Blas and Le Journal Pour Tous, a supplement of the weekly Le Journal.

 'Le Lendemain de la Manifestation' ('The Next Day after the Manifestation'). 

Cottin has made sequential stories for Le National Illustré, a magazine published in Brussels, around 1895. He is the author of a book of judicial cartoons called 'Drôleries du Palais, Album Humoristique' (1900), published by Plon. He also made book illustrations for publishers like Flammarion. Eugène Cottin died in 1902.
