You’ll find our team members understand you; they’ve been where you are. They’ve worked in senior roles and as risk managers, analysts and traders in the private and public sector. Utilities, banks, government, consulting and systems vendors are all represented, providing broad and granular cross-sector expertise. Of course success is built on foundations. Lacima was founded by two of the leading pioneers that shaped today’s energy markets through their research in energy risk modelling and valuation: Dr Les Clewlow and Dr Chris Strickland.
Dr Chris Strickland –Co-founder and CCO

Dr Chris Strickland is the Co-founder of Lacima. Chris has advised senior executives on energy risk management and complex derivative valuation issues for over 25 years, and is a recognised specialist for expert witness testimonials. Previously Chris worked for RBC Gilts Ltd and Kitcat and Aitken & Co in London. Chris is the co-author (with Les Clewlow) of the books ‘Energy Derivatives Pricing and Risk Management’ and ‘Implementing Derivatives Models’ and co-editor of the book ‘Exotic Options: The State of the Art’.
In 2005 Chris was named in the Energy Risk Hall of Fame and in 2009 he was named in an elite international group of five by Energy Risk Magazine as a pioneering quantitative analyst who has made an outstanding contribution to energy trading and has shaped today’s global energy markets. Previously he was a Coordinator of the Risk Metrics Subcommittee of the Committee of Chief Risk Officers (CCRO) based in Houston, and a member of the Energy Oversight Committee for the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP) based in New York.
Chris has also previously been an Honorary Fellow at Macquarie University in Sydney and a member of the Special Focus Advisory Board of the Computational Finance & Risk Management Program at the Department of Applied Mathematics, University of Washington in Seattle.
Dr Les Clewlow – Co-founder and CTO
PhD (Computer Science), University of Warwick, BSc (Physics with Astrophysics – First Class Honours), Birmingham University
Les Clewlow is CTO of Lacima. He is an Associate Research Fellow at the School of Finance and Economics, University of Technology, Sydney and the Financial Options Research Centre, University of Warwick. Les has extensive consulting experience at the senior executive level in energy valuation and risk management and system design and implementation, as well as a proven ability for problem solving for computationally advanced problems.
Les is the co-author of the books Energy Derivatives Pricing and Risk Management and Implementing Derivatives Models and co-editor of the book Exotic Options: The State of the Art, and has a regular series of articles in Energy Risk Magazine. Les was named in the Energy Risk’s Hall of Fame in 2005. Lorna Strickland – CFO/COO
BEc, University of Sydney, CA ANZ, GAICD
Lorna is CFO/ COO of Lacima and leads finance, legal, HR and marketing across all international operations. Lorna has over 25 years experience working with companies at varying stages of development – from those establishing operations, to those with a global presence. Prior to Lacima, as a Chartered Accountant, Lorna worked for Price Waterhouse, Coopers & Lybrand, PwC and IBM Business Consulting Services in the UK, Asia and Australia in various roles covering accounting, tax, audit and management consulting. In these roles Lorna has led teams of up to 200 people on time critical multi-faceted projects covering software development, business development, finance, legal, marketing, communications and change management.
