The American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS) is the oldest and largest non-registry professional society, representing 12,000 non-physician clinical laboratory practitioners. The society’s members include clinical laboratory directors, managers, supervisors, hematologists, immunologists, educators, clinical chemists, microbiologists, phlebotomists and other professionals. The mission of ASCLS is support its members in their quest to provide quality services for all consumers. The members ascribe to a code of ethics and are committed to safeguarding the dignity and privacy of patients and providing accurate information to other health care professionals about laboratory services. The Society promotes the highest standards of practice and professional competence through conferences, publications and education programs.

Founded in 1976, the Clinical Laboratory Management Association (CLMA) is an international association of over 1,600 clinical laboratory professionals. CLMA provides tools, resources, and advocacy for the clinical laboratory industry, supporting laboratory professionals as they take on leadership roles in their laboratories. CLMA educates and advocates on behalf of members and plays a leadership role in enhancing the image and increasing the visibility of the laboratory management profession.

COLA is a national laboratory accreditor and an advocate for quality in laboratory medicine and patient care. It is a physician-directed organization whose purpose is to promote excellence in laboratory medicine and patient care through a program of voluntary education and accreditation. In 1988, COLA was established by the American Medical Association (AMA), the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), the American College of Physicians (ACP) as an organization to help keep small physician-office laboratories (POLs) in compliance with the newly created Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA ’88). COLA has evolved through the years and today serves over 7,000 laboratories of all sizes, nationwide.

Soft Bones, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit, US-based patient advocacy group dedicated to hypophosphatasia.
Soft Bones powers the HPP community by raising awareness of this rare, metabolic disease, providing hope by advocating for and funding research, and connecting patients with each other and with the medical community to advance the understanding of HPP. We provide medical information as well as a support system for patients and families living with HPP.
