ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Iran will not initiate a war, but is fully prepared to respond with force to any aggression, Major General Hossein Salami, Chief Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), declared on Saturday during a gathering of senior military officials, according to the state-run IRNA.

“We are ready for both psychological warfare and military action by the enemies, but we will not retreat a single step if that happens,” Salami said

Salami accused Iran’s adversaries of miscalculating its deterrence capabilities and attempting to corner Tehran into either submission or conflict. “We are not worried at all. We will not start a war, but we are ready for it,” he added.

Focusing on Israel, Salami declared that the Islamic Republic had broken through what he described as the illusion of Israeli invulnerability. “Despite this extensive volume of air defenses, 581 of our missiles hit their targets,” he said, referencing Operation True Promise, Iran’s massive retaliatory strike launched last year.

Salami further warned that the broader Resistance Front—a network of regional militias aligned with Iran—has not yet deployed its full power. “If it opens its hands, the scope and fire of the war will be beyond the enemy’s imagination,” he said.

The remarks come amid ongoing regional tensions and continued concerns expressed by the U.S. top officials over Iran’s missile program, nuclear program, and its role in the so-called Resistance Axis.

The statement also follows heightened security alerts in Israel and increased Western naval deployments in key maritime corridors, across the Middle East.

Iran’s leadership has consistently framed its military preparedness as defensive, emphasizing deterrence in the face of external threats.
