Origin[edit]
Webbigail "Webby" Vanderquack first appeared in Disney's television seriesDuckTales, voiced by the lateRussi Taylor. The granddaughter ofScrooge McDuck's housekeeper Mrs. Beakley, Webby often accompanies Scrooge and his companions on their adventures and seeks to be accepted byHuey, Dewey and Louie, who often disapprove of her presence. Her love of animals proves to be her greatest asset, allowing her to befriend all creatures around the world.
In the show's2017 reboot, where she is voiced byKate Micucci, Webby is reimagined as an enthusiastic fan of the McDuck family. Though she was raised by Mrs. Beakley to be a fighter and survivalist, she is also socially awkward, having lived most of her life in McDuck Manor. Throughout the series's first season, Webby aids Dewey in investigating the disappearance of the nephews' mother Della. Her friendship with a teenage duck named Lena also serves as a major plot point in the series.
Webby's character in the original series is a composite of April, May, and June, the three nieces ofDaisy Duck. The series finale of the reboot reveals that Webby is a clone of Scrooge originally codenamed April and introduces May and June as her clones who are eventually adopted by Donald and Daisy.
