Verum Rex (Lat: "True King") is a fictional video game set inQuadratum that exists inToy Box, a world fromKingdom Hearts III based onToy Story. Developed bySquare Enix for the Play Plus video game console, the game is part of a franchise including a cartoon series, a toyline, and a demo namedVerum Rex: Beat of Lead, which serves as one of the mini-games inKingdom Hearts III.
Development[edit]
Verum Rex was originally referred to asInvictus in early development with Quadratum depicted as a vibrant neon city.[1]
After the conclusion of theDark Seeker Saga, Nomura consideredVerum Rex as the next game in the series and discussed it with series co-director Yasushi Yasue. In the end, Nomura decided onKingdom Hearts IV to be the next game in development because it'd be difficult to develop two big console games at the same time.[2]
