Mechanics[edit]

Kingdom Hearts[edit]

InKingdom Hearts, Tech Points are additional experience points earned whenSora exploits an enemy's weakness, parries an enemy attack with an attack of his own, or uses an enemy's attack against them (usually deflecting some sort of projectile attack). Some common ways to earn Tech Points include the following, with examples:

  • Parry and interrupt an opponent's melee attack
  • Deflect an opponent's projectile and hit them with it (see below for examples)
    • Sora can earn Tech Points while fighting his friends onDestiny Islands; whenWakka throws his Blitzball, Sora can attack to reflect it back at him.
    • When fightingLeon inTraverse Town, Sora can again earn Tech Points. When Leon fires a fireball, if Sora times his attack to deflect the fireball back at him, Leon will be stunned and Sora will earn two Tech Points - one for blocking the attack and another for hitting Leon with it.
    • TheIce Titan gives 24 Tech Points if Sora deflects its icicles.
  • Use a special attack the opponent is weak to (ie. hittingRed Nocturne withBlizzard)
  • Hit or land a combo finisher on a specific spot of the enemy.
    • While fightingDarkside. Performing a finisher on its head will earn two Tech Points.
    • Rock Titan gives a single Tech Point whenever damaged in any way.

Kingdom Hearts III[edit]

InKingdom Hearts III, Tech Points are earned when the Gummi ships dodge an attack just as it's about to hit.
