—Rhyme

Rhyme is a character who makes herKingdom Hearts debut inKingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. She originally appeared inThe World Ends with You.

Development[edit]

Rhyme, along withNeku,Shiki,Joshua, andBeat, is one of the first characters to appear in theKingdom Hearts series who originated from something other than Disney,Final Fantasy, orKingdom Hearts fiction, although they are from another game that is property of Square Enix, as well as designed by Tetsuya Nomura.

Story[edit]

Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance[edit]

Side: Sora[edit]

Rhyme appears inSora's version ofTraverse Town near the coliseum interacting with aMoogle, missing most of her memories and lacking her partner Beat, although she does not remember Beat is her partner. Rhyme follows Sora to find Neku, hoping he can jog her memory. Upon finding him, Rhyme discovers Neku is not her Game partner. When theDream Eaters attack her, she is temporarily removed from existence by Joshua to save her. Once it is safe, Rhyme discovers Joshua is holding onto her dreams which are a "portal" between the two worlds of Traverse Town. Rhyme then disappears to reunite with Beat.

Side: Riku[edit]

Rhyme later appears inRiku's version of Traverse Town upon his second visit, remembering everything about herself and helping Beat fight off weaker Dream Eaters to allow Riku the time needed to slay theSpellican. After Spellican's defeat, Rhyme thanks Riku and asks him to say hi to Sora.

Design[edit]

Rhyme is a girl with blue eyes and chin-length blonde hair. She wears a black hat with a small skull on the front. She wears a long-sleeved coral shirt with a black skull and cross bones symbol stylized in the shape of a heart. She wears a bell as a necklace. She dons a pair of white overalls shorts, though she does not wear the top half, letting it fall down to her waist. She wears black-and-yellow shoes with white laces.

Personality[edit]

Rhyme possesses a calm and optimistic demeanor. Loyal and kind, Rhyme is always wearing a smile and is amiable to everyone she meets, and despite her young age, she is reasonable and manages to keep everyone organized when she is around. She cares deeply about Beat, as she has no dreams except to help her brother.

Origin[edit]

Rhyme TWEWY.png

Raimu "Rhyme" Bito is a character from Square Enix'sThe World Ends with You. Her real name is Raimu Bito, Beat's younger sister. Following him after he ran away, Rhyme unknowingly caused the event that took both their lives and led to them enrolling in the Reaper Game. However, as part of Beat's entry fee, Rhyme has no memory of them being siblings. During the game, Rhyme meetsNeku Sakuraba andShiki Misaki, encouraging Beat to have their two groups team up. However, during the fourth day when they head to Towa Tower, Rhyme sacrifices herself to save Beat from a Noise the Reapers placed in the area. Though her death would normally have led to Beat's own demise due to the rules, the latter's life was spared when Rhyme's soul was infused in a Noise pin that manifests as a flying squirrel Noise. By the end of the game, after deciding not to destroy Shibuya, Joshua gives Rhyme a second chance at life with her memories restored.
