TheRed Armor is anEmblem Heartless that is found inKingdom Hearts, but is unnamed untilKingdom Hearts Final Mix. It appears in theOlympus Coliseum matches.

The various pieces of the Red Armor, known as "Armored Torso", "Gauntlets", and "Hammerlegs", are able to move independently, and even appear as separate enemies in the Coliseum matches.

Story[edit]

Kingdom Hearts[edit]

The various pieces of a Red Armor appear throughout thePhil Cup. They appear again in several rounds of theHades Cup including a round where all three components are fought together. In the original Japanese version ofKingdom Hearts, these Heartless were simply named Guard Armor and were purple like the original Guard Armor. This was changed in the original international version were these Heartless were recolored to red to differentiate them from the original Guard Armor, however they were still referred to as Guard Armor and did not receive a separate name until Final Mix.

Design[edit]

The Red Armor's body is divided into several pieces—a body, a head, two arms, and two legs—none of which are directly connected to each other and all of which can act independently of the other. The Armored Torso is vaguely hour glass-shaped, magenta with a light grey, diamond pattern around its waist, and has dark pink additives on it. The Heartless emblem is emblazoned on the center of the armor. Its head is magenta, spherical, and sports one silver spikes, two red ones, and a silver faceplate with several holes in it. Both of the Gauntlets are magenta with wide wrists and three silver, segmented fingers. The Hammerlegs are short, magenta, and ends in large, hammer-like, black feet. All of the pieces of the Red Armor seem to be hollow.

The Red Armor's name clearly references its reddish coloration and its armored body.

Strategy[edit]

The Red Armor is nearly identical to theGuard Armor fromTraverse Town except that its components always act independently and never join together like Guard Armor does. Other than that, its components act the same way as Guard Armor does in its separated phase. The Torso can be blocked with Guard or a well-timed jump attack, this will leave it on the ground stunned for several seconds creating an excellent opening. The feet and arms can both be stunned with combo finishers or knocked over by being deflected. By chaining jumping combos, you can stunlock the feet and arms.
