Olaf is a character fromArendelle inKingdom Hearts III. He originated in the Disney filmFrozen.
He followsAnna andKristoff in their search forElsa.
Development[edit]
In the Japanese version, Olaf was originally voiced byPierre Taki. Following Taki's arrest after admitting to drug usage, Square Enix announced on March 14, 2019, that Olaf will be recast in a future update,[2][3] withShunsuke Takeuchi replacing him.
Story[edit]
Kingdom Hearts III[edit]
Olaf is briefly seen being created by Elsa while she is singing "Let It Go".
AfterSora,Donald, andGoofy fall down the mountain again, the animated Olaf steps on Sora's hair, mistaking it for grass, and gets his foot stuck. He manages to take off his foot and walk away, while Sora regains consciousness. Sora then tells Donald and Goofy that he saw a walking, talking snowman, but they don't believe him.
Later, Olaf eventually meets Anna, Kristoff, andSven and offers to guide the group to Elsa's palace. Upon seeing Olaf, Sora rushes over to him and proves to Donald and Goofy he wasn't imagining. Anna asks if he knows them, which he denies. After introducing themselves, Olaf is carried off by Kristoff and Sven but are attacked by the Heartless, leaving Olaf's parts scattered. After putting Olaf back together, the group split up when theHeartless attack.
After a short journey, Olaf and the others find Elsa's ice palace; however, he is immediately kicked out along with Anna and Kristoff by Marshmallow. The harming of Olaf angers Anna and throws a snowball at the snow beast, provoking him and leading to a chase. Olaf tells the gang to move ahead as he will distract him, but his dismembered body proves difficult. Sora, Donald, and Goofy give Olaf the chance to flee and catch up with the others.
When theSköll is defeated, Olaf finds Elsa mourning for Anna, who unfortunately froze to death after sacrificing her life to save Elsa fromHans. As Olaf mourns, Anna miraculously returns to life. Olaf notes that Anna's self-sacrifice for her sister was an "act of true love". His words help Elsa realize that love is the key to controlling her ability, leading her to thaw Arendelle and restore summer.
Sometime afterXehanort's defeat, Anna, Kristoff and Olaf go sledding. Elsa watches them launch off a mountain and uses her powers to create a ramp. Marshmallow catches Olaf, whose parts ended up separated before fixing himself.
Design[edit]
Olaf is a short snowman. He is composed of five snowballs; one head-shaped snowball for his head, a smaller snowball for his upper torso, a large snowball for his lower body, and two very small snowballs for his feet. He has two small twigs on his head to resemble hair, eyebrows, black eyes, a carrot for his nose, twigs for arms, and three black pebbles to resemble buttons. His only teeth are buck teeth on his upper mouth.

Olaf is a cheerful and upbeat snowman. He is very innocent about the world.
Origin[edit]
Olaf first appeared in the 2013 Disney filmFrozen, voiced by Josh Gad. Originally, Olaf was a snowman created by Elsa for Anna when the two were little, but collapsed after Elsa accidentally froze Anna. Thirteen years later, Elsa recreates Olaf when testing her powers, but unknowingly brings him to life. Olaf eventually crosses paths with Anna and Kristoff and follows them in their journey to find Elsa. He does not have a significant role in the story, often the source of comic relief, although he does save Anna's life after Hans locks her in a room and leaves her to perish.
