Mechanics[edit]
The objective of this mini-game is to collect the music notes while avoiding the puddles. Sora and Mickey can jump by pressing the "ACTION" button.
Pressing the "ACTION" button while in the air allows Sora and Mickey to perform a double jump. A double jump covers 3 meters, but if the second jump is performed after waiting a moment, the double jump will cover 4 to 5 meters.
Each stage shows a target distance at the top left. Once the distance is reached, the stage ends and the next one starts. If Sora touches a puddle, his life decreases by 1. Once all lives are gone, the game ends.
The score increases by 10 for each note collected, and by 50 for each triple note collected. If all notes are collected in a stage, a bonus of 500 points is obtained upon reaching the end of the stage. Certain stages are faster, but contain no puddles, changing the focus on collecting as many notes as possible.

Mickey Steps Out is based on theMickey Mouse short of the same name from 1931. In the short, Mickey heads for Minnie's house, jumping to avoid puddles of water along the way.
