| A large Heartless similar to a Shadow. Like its predecessor, it's quite persistent and will chase its target around. If it just does the littlest amount of damage to Sora, it will fade out of sheer happiness. |

| These large Pureblood Heartless take the Mega-Shadow attack pattern and add even more muscle. The only way to knock them off guard is to deflect their tackles with a block. |

TheGigas Shadow is aPureblood Heartless introduced inKingdom Hearts Final Mix.
Design[edit]
A Gigas Shadow has a vaguely humanoid body structure. It has a round, spherical head with circular, glowing yellow eyes. It also has two long, twisted antennae sprouting out of the top of its head. Each of its hands has three clawed fingers, and its feet are large and lack any distinguishable digits. With the exception of its eyes, this Heartless's body is completely pitch-black. The Gigas Shadow is practically identical to the basicShadow andMega-Shadow Heartless, but is much larger than either of its two relatives.
InKingdom Hearts Final Mix, they are simply normal sized Shadows that gradually grow to their limit, possibly a reference toSora's use of the shrinking potion. However, inKingdom Hearts χ andKingdom Hearts Dark Road, they appear as a larger and chubbier version of the Shadow, having a slightly larger head proportionally, fatter antenna and limbs, and a rounder belly.
The Gigas Shadow's name refers to its massive size—"gigas" is a Greek word meaning "giant"—it is otherwise identical to the appearance of a normal Shadow.
Strategy[edit]
Kingdom Hearts Final Mix[edit]
Gigas Shadows only appear after three waves of Shadows have been defeated in theBizarre Room. The first wave of Shadows is present on the field as soon as the area is entered, unlike other Heartless. They attack the same way normal Shadows do, but they do not become flat and move along floors. They are large and have much moreHP than other Heartless in the area. They can quickly surround and swipe at Sora, but this can be avoided by moving into a corner on an elevated surface where only a few Gigas Shadows can attack at once.
If a Gigas Shadow manages to strike Sora, even just once, it will escape the fight, reducing the odds of winning aFury Stone. Gigas Shadows will also eventually flee by phasing into the floor if they are left alone for a while, so Sora cannot delay too long in defeating them either if he wishes to collect any of their drops.
Aeroga and the slightly less effectiveAerora can also be used to deflect oncoming attacks. Long-range techniques, likeBlizzaga andStrike Raid, can deal damage while keeping Sora away from the Gigas Shadows, orSonic Blade can be used to strike multiple ones while stunning them with each it with the same full invincibility properties as the aforementioned Strike Raid. Alternately, castStopga to freeze the Gigas Shadows and attack them with Sonic Blade or Strike Raid.
Two summons to use however, areDumbo for the early game, and as well asMushu for the late game. Dumbo provides full invincibility for Sora and gives him room toSplash the Gigas Shadows at his leisure (can either move around to tag them continuously), while Mushu can continuously bombard any of the Gigas Shadows one-by-one withFire Breath as Sora can keep running away from them; both methods can have them pour all the damage onto one Gigas Shadow to eliminate it before going for the next one.
However, both methods require sufficiently high enough MP to both make the Summons last longer and also increase their overall damage output. Remember toLock-On for each one if needed, especially with Mushu!

Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days[edit]
Gigas Shadows are relatively easy to defeat. They are only capable of a claw attack, a jump attack, and becoming flat and moving along the floor. Blocking a claw attack will do nothing, butblocking a jump attack willstun them temporarily, givingRoxas time to do a combo. Repeat this enough times and the Heartless will fall easily.

Notes and references[edit]
- ^abThe Gigas Shadows only give EXP in the form of Tech Points. 50 EXP is obtained for deflection. Defeating the first Gigas Shadow yields 10 Tech Points, the second yields 20 Tech Points, and so on until the last one, which yields 70 Tech Points.
