Design[edit]

Dante is a dark brown, slenderXoloitzcuintli. He has brown eyes, ragged ears, and a hairless body. Many of his teeth are missing, and he sports a long, pink tongue that often rolls out of his mouth.

Origin[edit]

Dante first appeared in the Disney/Pixar filmCoco. For most of the film, he serves as one of the film's comic relief characters. At the start of the film, he is a stray dog who takes a liking for Miguel. When Miguel is accidentally cursed into the Land of the Dead, Dante is the only one in the land of the living who can see him, and accompanies Miguel on his mission to gain Ernesto de la Cruz's blessing. However, Miguel learns that most of his deceased relatives are tracking him down and chooses to finish the mission alone without Dante's company. Dante is soon revealed to be analebrije, a spirit guide, and he assists Miguel and his family in defeating Ernesto. By the film's end, Dante has become a permanent resident of the Land of the Dead, and in the epilogue, he returns to the land of the living to celebrate the Day of the Dead.
