Aeleus^[1] is one ofAnsem the Wise's six apprentices, and the human form ofLexaeus.

Story[edit]

Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep[edit]

Aeleus and Dilan kick Isa and Lea out of Ansem's castle.

Aeleus is an apprentice to the ruler and scientist ofRadiant Garden, Ansem the Wise, alongsideBraig,Dilan,Even, andIenzo, and guards the castle with Dilan. WhenVentus attempts to enter the castle, Aeleus and Dilan stop him as the castle is closed to visitors, and warn him about theUnversed. Ventus leaves to fight the Unversed, and Aeleus and Dilan attempt to follow him, but Even appears and reminds them that their priority should be the castle. Even then informs them that Ansem asked to see them.

Later, Aeleus is present when Dilan throwsLea andIsa out of the castle after their attempt to sneak in.

BetweenKingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep andKingdom Hearts[edit]

About a decade prior toKingdom Hearts, afterTerra-Xehanort has joined them as an apprentice, Ansem begins performing tests on Xehanort'sheart due to his worry that thedarkness in people's hearts would eventually consume his world. Eventually, he creates a laboratory in his castle's basement for such experimentation. Unbeknownst to Ansem, Aeleus and the other apprentices begin conducting inhumane experiments on the human heart and the darkness within it in the laboratory. Such experimentation leads to the creation ofHeartless. When Ansem discovers their secret experiments, he immediately orders them to stop.

Shortly after Lea and Isa become apprentices, Aeleus and the other apprentices oust Ansem and banish him to theRealm of Darkness. Xehanort convinces the other apprentices to cast off their hearts, and uses hisKeyblade to remove their hearts, which creates both a Heartless andNobody due to the apprentice's strong hearts. The Nobodies formOrganization XIII, and Aeleus takes on the name Lexaeus.

Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance[edit]

Aeleus is revived, along with Dilan, Even and Ienzo.

Aeleus is restored following the demise of his Heartless and Lexaeus. He awakens within theHeartless Manufactory with Dilan, Even, Ienzo and Lea, and soon realizes that Braig and Isa are mysteriously absent. As Dilan and Even are still tired and unstable after their restoration, Aeleus has them rest.

Sometime after Lea leaves to search for Braig and Isa, Even goes missing. Aeleus and Dilan search for him, but are unable to find him.^[2]

Kingdom Hearts III[edit]

Aeleus and Dilan escort Naminé out of the castle.

Aeleus appears alongside Ienzo onSora'sGummiphone, but is reluctant to speak to Sora due to his connection toRoxas.

Aeleus and Ienzo later meet withMickey andRiku to discuss replicas.

The night before the secondKeyblade War, Aeleus and Dilan rush into the lab to see Ienzo with their former master Ansem the Wise, who has been returned to them byDemyx. As Ienzo apologies to Ansem for the apprentices' betrayal, Aeleus comforts a remorseful Dilan.

FollowingXehanort's defeat andNaminé's restoration, Aeleus and Dilan escort Naminé out of the castle to be picked up by Riku and theGummi Ship.

Design[edit]

As Lexaeus's human form, Aeleus looks nearly identical to his Nobody counterpart, aside from some minor alterations. He wears the same guard outfit as Dilan: a grey uniform with white cuffs and a red heart on the chest. There are blue hearts on the cuffs of both of his gloves. He wields anAxe Sword that appear to be much smaller than his Nobody's weapon, as well as being more reminiscent of an actual axe rather than a combination of an axe and a sword.

Personality[edit]

Like with Dilan, Aeleus appears to be much more good-natured and noble thanLexaeus, although their outward personalities seem similar. He shows concern for Ventus when the latter volunteers to fight Trinity Armor alone, and is only stopped from following Ventus by Even, who orders him back to his post.

InKingdom Hearts III, Aeleus appears to be remorseful of his actions as a Nobody, judging by his reluctance to speak with Sora and how he aided his friends in their quest in defeating Master Xehanort. Further, Aeleus indeed regretted how he and his fellow apprentices betrayed their teacher, Ansem, the Wise and thus, was able to make amends with his former master.
