Ernst made a stop at the Tommy Gate Factory as part of her 99-county tour in Iowa, but she still had to address the rumors surrounding her and the 2016 presidential race.

One Tommy Gate Factory employee stopped to crack a joke with Ernst about the recent rumors surrounding her on Trump's ticket.

She said she has other things to be concerned with other than a possible vice president nomination.

"No one has reached out, so it's a hypothetical right now. But I'm excited about focusing on what's important to Iowans," Ernst said.

She did say it's time for the Republican party to come together.

"Whoever our nominee is coming out of the GOP convention in July is who I am going to support," she said.

If that nominee is Trump, Ernst said, she believes he's the man to get the job done.

"I think he's got a lot of energy and enthusiasm behind him, not just with folks in the GOP, but also independents," Ernst said.

She believes in his plan of keeping jobs, like those at Tommy Gate, local.

"Focusing on rural economies and making sure we are a strong nation, developing products that we can ship worldwide," Ernst said.

Ernst said she's about halfway through her tour. She hopes to stop at several locations in the next week.
