LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop Friday afternoon and continue through Saturday afternoon as a low pressure system moves into the region.

While severe weather is not expected to be widespread, some thunderstorms could produce quarter-size hail and localized strong wind gusts.

What to Expect Friday and Saturday

Friday will start pleasant with mostly cloudy skies and morning temperatures in the 40s to lower 50s. Showers and thunderstorms will develop as the day progresses, with the heaviest rain chances expected Friday evening through Saturday morning.

Rainfall amounts are expected to average around 1 inch across the region, with some areas receiving up to 1.25 inches. Localized areas could see higher amounts that may lead to flooding.

Despite the rain and cloud cover, temperatures will remain well above average, with highs in the 60s to 70s expected both Friday and Saturday.
