LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - A new candidate has entered the 2026 race for Lubbock Congressman Jodey Arrington’s seat.

Secretary of the Lubbock County Democratic Party, Kyle Rable, announced his intent to run for House Congressional District 19 on Saturday.

Rable went to college at the University of Toledo and received commission into the army reserves. He then got a master’s degree and entered into Texas Tech’s PhD program.

The key issues listed on his website include prioritizing the revitalization of farms and rural communities in West Texas, protecting Medicaid and Medicare, and, “attacking monopolies”.

Rable’s campaign released this statement on Saturday:

Today, Kyle Rable of Lubbock, Texas, announced that he will be running for Representative of the House Congressional District 19. He has served as the Secretary of the Lubbock County Democratic Party for the last year.

“West Texas has long been taken advantage of by the Republican party and whoever they have shoved into power.” Said Kyle Rable. “It is time that both the Republican and Democratic parties stop taking West Texas for granted and forgetting about our people. While farmers sink into debt, the water table drops, and families struggle to make ends meet - the rich make out on the backs of the West Texan worker. I say no more.”

Rable understands the impact that the negligence of leadership has had on West Texas. “For over 30 years, this area has been dominated by a party that has cared more for their bottom dollar than the lives of the people working in the dust.” Said Rable. “The time has come to show that West Texas will not be the holding ground of the elite who cannot even be bothered to meet with and talk to the people who work day and night to make ends meet.”

“Our future, our children’s future, is on the line. While the current leadership of our country has decided to make the economic future of this country their plaything, West Texans choke on the dirt left behind from cut-off funds and a lack of resources. It is time to bring to an end the monopoly of power by the few swampy people in D.C..”

“I have learned that when one speaks up for the working class, for the family farm, for the average American, one will not be welcomed in Washington.” Said Rable. “For the people of West Texas I promise to deliver on the American Dream our families have fought for and that we want for our kids.”

“It is time to put real, working, dedicated leadership back to work for West Texas and America. It is time to return West Texas to its people.”

“I formally announce my campaign to take West Texas back from the apathetic rich, and give it to the hard-working West Texan.”
