Police find escaped prisoner hiding in attic

ST. FRANCIS COUNTY, Ark. (KAIT) - Police recaptured a Forrest City man who escaped from the St. Francis County Detention Center earlier this week.

The Forrest City Police Department found Christopher Davenport hiding in the attic of an abandoned house, a social media post announced Wednesday afternoon.

Officers arrested Davenport and turned him over to Arkansas State Police and U.S. Marshalls.

Davenport, 38, was discovered missing around 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 24, during a routine headcount.

According to ASP, Davenport was being held on multiple felony charges, including first-degree battery, endangering the welfare of a minor, and weapons offenses. He was also facing additional charges by the U.S. Marshals Service.

Law enforcement officers arrested Davenport Sept. 19 following ashooting at Star One Food Mart in Forrest City. He was being held in St. Francis County, awaiting trial when he escaped.
