OUR PURPOSE~Japan Women’s Football~
Shining on the world stage, Nadeshiko Japan’s dedication to the game is a symbol of Japanese women’s football.
With the vision of “Becoming the World’s Nadeshiko”, Japan Football Association (JFA) has focused on the promotion of women’s football, player development, strengthening, human resources development and the improvement of the footballing environment. After Nadeshiko Japan’s triumph at the FIFA Women’s World Cup Germany 2011™, Japan’s U-17 and U-20 women’s national teams followed in their footsteps by winning their respective World Cups in 2014 and 2018. Women’s football in Japan has continued to flourish since the launch of Japan’s first professional women’s football league, the WE League, in 2021.
JFA believes that women’s football in Japan brings courage and hope to the people, and through various football activities we aim to expand the scope of women’s football and contribute to the promotion of sport, the development of local communities and fair play, while also addressing social issues such as women’s empowerment and gender equality to create a society in which women can play an active role.
