Three of Indonesia's largest telecoms providers have announced a partnership to develop standardisation of an API protocol for telecommunications in Indonesia.
Telkomsel, Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (IOH), and XLSMART have launched Telco API Alliance, a joint initiative to accelerate the standardisation of the Telco API protocol in Indonesia.
The three operators agreed to standardise the use of the Telco API protocol based on international standards CAMARA, so that the integration of the ecosystem of each operator with various applications becomes easier, safer and more inclusive for the entire Indonesian digital ecosystem.
Under the joint initiative, Telco API Alliance will gradually present six solutions, most of which focus on increasing customer security from account hacking or fraud.
The six solutions are:
“This collaboration is realized in the spirit of mutual progress in building an empowered and sustainable national digital ecosystem," Telkomsel Planning and Transformation Director, Wong Soon Nam said.
"Via Telco API Alliance, Telkomsel emphasises its consistency in utilising the latest technology to provide useful solutions for Indonesian society, especially in terms of protection from digital crime.
"This effort also reflects Telkomsel's commitment to opening up more opportunities for society to become more competitive in the digital era.”
Director and Chief Enterprise Strategic Relationship Officer of XLSMART, Andrijanto Muljono, said joining the Telco API Alliance is an important step for XLSMART.
"We believe this collaboration will open up opportunities for the birth of various useful new solutions, as well as strengthen the competitiveness of the Indonesian telecommunications industry in the digital era," Muljono said.
"We hope that the Telco API Alliance will be a catalyst to give birth to strategic collaboration in presenting the latest digital services and encouraging the birth of new breakthroughs.”
Director and Chief Business Officer of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, M Danny Buldansyah, said the collaboration is a clear example of the commitment of telecommunications operators in Indonesia to strengthen economic growth in the nation.
"This is part of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison's endless journey of delivering world-class digital experiences, connecting and empowering Indonesian people,” Buldansyah said.
