Career:From Tralee, Co Kerry, he is an expert inconstitutional, commercial and competition law. Described asunassuming, practical and extremely hard working, he has beeninvolved in a number of libel trials.

He studied law at UCD and Cambridge and took silk in 1991. He isnot a known political person but he acted successfully forTaoiseach Bertie Ahern in his libel action against businessmanDenis "Starry" O'Brien, and former tánaiste Michael McDowellin his successful planning permission case against Roscommon CountyCouncil.

He also represented a number of newspapers when journalist IanBailey took a libel action related to the coverage of the SophieToscan du Plantier murder case.
