Lars Tvinde(1886-1973)

Distinguished Norwegian actor with a formidable presence, a mainstay atThe Norwegian Theater in Oslo from 1913 until retirement in 1958.

Often seen as a dominant or evil character, such as his portrayal ofthe Captain in: Dødsdansen/The Dance of Death by Strindberg, and asDidrik Dale in: Medmenneske, by Olav Duun. But he also played manygreat roles in comedy and in the classical drama: Jeppe in: Jeppe paaBjerget,(Holberg) Teiresias in: Antigone, and as Oedipus (both bySophocles).

In films he played mostly small parts, but he is well remembered forhis appearance as Sebaldus in a very popular film: Fant, directed byTancred Ibsen.

During his long career he acted in several Radio plays, and in 1965 heplayed a leading role in the famous play about King Olav II, shown atan outdoor stage at Stiklestad every summer since 1954.
